Pat Donahue, Class of '83

By his senior year, Pat Donahue had seven varsity letters, two as a defensive back in football, two as a point guard in basketball and three as first baseman on the baseball team. In 1983 he helped lead Edina to the State baseball championship and an American Legion Baseball World Series title. He was named All-State and All-Conference in baseball in 1983, MVP for the baseball team in 1981 and 1983 as well as Top Slugger, Top Base Stealer, Top Fielder and Coaches Award recipient. In baseball he was All-Conference special mention. All of this while maintaining the Deans list all 6 semesters at Edina and graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1983. Pat went on to Northwestern University where he continued to play baseball and won a scholar athlete award in 1984. He now lives in Oak Park, Illinois with his wife and two children. 

Martha Goldberg Aronson, Class of '85

Martha was part of the State Title tennis team for Edina from 1981-1984 and as the co-captain of the team her senior year. She won the State doubles championship in 1983 with Lea Blackwell and in 1984 with fellow inductee Jenny Moe. Martha also co-captained the Girls Varsity Basketball team in 1984-1985 and as a team took second place in the State tournament in 1983 and third place in 1984. Martha was also valedictorian for the Class of 1985. Martha went to Wellesley College where she continued her tennis career. She was ranked third in the nation in the NCAA double and NCAA Division III All-American And Academic All-American for 1988-89. Martha is currently a Vice President at Medtronic. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband Dan and three children.

Craig R. Norwich, Class of '74

Craig was on the Varsity hockey team three years and was All-Conference all three years and All-State in '73 and '74. Craig was captain for the 1974 undefeated State Championship team. Overall, while Craig on a hockey team, their record was 69-4-1. Craig went on t play for the University of Wisconsin and was All-American in 1976 and 1977, WCHA First Team All Star in '76 and '77 and NCAA All-Tournament team in 1977 as a defenseman. After his junior year in 1977, Craig signed a pro contract and played for Indianapolis in the World Hockey League. Later he played in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets and St. Louis Blues. Presently, he is Director of Hockey at St. Paul Academy/Summit School and owner of All-World Hockey. 

Peter Hankinson, Class of '86

Four year letter winner in hockey, Peter Hankinson was a member of the 1984 State Championship hockey team. He was name All-Conference in hockey as well as baseball. Peter went to the University of Minnesota where he majored in business. He continued to play hockey and was named MVP, Captain, Rookie of the Year, WCHA first team, Bernie Bierman award winner and Athlete of the Year for 1990 Hockey. Following the U of M, he signed a professional contract with the Winnipeg Jets (now Phoenix Coyotes) and was drafted by the Jets as well as MLB's Houston Astros. Peter lives in Edina with his wife Heather and daughters Hannah and Kiki.

Jennifer Moe Coughlin, Class of '88

Jennie Moe excelled in Edina tennis from her freshman through senior year. She was the State Champion in doubles her freshman year, was State singles runner-up her sophomore and junior year, and State Singles champion her senior year; all four year being a part of a state championship team. She was also named MVP. She wen t on to graduate with a BA in Speech Communications from the University of Minnesota where she continued her tennis career. She was named All Big Team three years running and was the record holder for career wins at the University. Jennie is mother to four kids, soon to be five and resides in Eden Prairie. 

Robert McCarthy - Coach

During his 19 years of teaching at Edina Morningside High School, Bob McCarthy acted as assistant football coach with Coach Stav Canakas for 8 seasons, and three seasons with Frank Fischer. In basketball he assisted Bob Savre for seven season. In baseball he assisted Duane Baglien for four years when Edina won their very first Baseball State Title in 1968. During the 10-year era from '62-'72 Edina enjoyed unprecedented success in basketball and football. Three consecutive State Titles in basketball ('66, '67 and '68) plus a consecutive winning streak of 69 games in basketball. Bob then served as head baseball coach for Edina East's Varsity baseball team from 1974-80, one of them qualifying the team for the State Tournament. All who knew Bob seemed to mention the same thought "What a great sense of humor". Edina's Board of Education named the Edina East baseball field 'The McCarthy Memorial Field' in his honor.

Charles Webster, Class of '53

Charles was a seven letter winner in 1951-1953, combining Varsity Football, Baseball and Basketball. He was a gifted all-around athlete and earned All-Lake Conference status in all three sports. "Chuck was one of the best all around athletes of that era and helped build the Edina tradition in the early years," quoted Rollie Ring, Hall of Fame member. Charles went to Amherst College where he graduated B.A. Cum Laude. He served in the US Navy from 1958-1961. He currently lives in Edina and involved with Colonial Church and is chair of the Courage Center Foundation. 

Scott Hallam, Class of '69

Edina High School swim coach Art Downey personally nominated Scott Hallam to be inducted in the Hall of Fame noting that he won the State meet in both the 200 and 400 yard freestyle races as a sophomore and the 400 free his junior year, and set a state record for the 200 free. His senior year he broke his leg playing soccer and yet still recovering, took second in the 200 free and third in the 400 free at the state meet in 1969. He also lettered in soccer his junior and senior years. Scott went on to the University of Minnesota where he lettered in swimming. Scott currently lives in Wayzata and is director of Operations for UNOCO Restaurants, Inc. He is also active with his 11 year old daughter.
